Hey hey it’s workout Wednesday! In honor of Halloween I made a “Spooky Shoulder Sculpting Workout.” All of the exercises are pretty straight forward, so grab a pair of dumbbells and get to work. Shoot me an email to brit@gritbybrit.com if you have any questions.
Do you know what you are going to be for Halloween? I’d love to hear your costume ideas! Have a wonderful Wednesday. Luv, Brit
Hey guys! Hope you had a good morning and your afternoon is off to a good start. I’m loving working from home this week! Being on the road every week for work is really hard on my body. When I’m home I appreciate the little things like making breakfast and coffee in my own kitchen. This morning I made some simple scrambled eggs, toast and coffee. Later on I ate another whole wheat English muffin topped with crunchy peanut butter and banana (my mid-morning snack. I was HONGRY)
So…I have great news to share with you guys! This Thursday (9/20/14) I’m going to start teaching at a new cycling studio, Beyond Pedaling in Dallas, TX. If you recall, I took a class at Beyond earlier this year and had a great experience. I’m so excited because this studio let’s me teach a music-based cycling workout with some choreographed moves. LOVE IT! Also the ride incorporates hand weights, so I’ll guide my class through a ~5 minute arm workout while cycling. I’ve been working on my playlist and practicing all week. It’s weird because even though I’ve been teaching group fitness classes for almost 3 years, I still have that nervous excitement that makes it difficult to sleep. Please wish me luck!
In the spirit of my new cycling gig, I designed a “Sculpt & Cycle” workout just for you. This workout should take about 30 minutes to complete. The time will fly by because you’re doing the arm workout while cycling – I love simultaneous muscle toning and cardio conditioning. Give it a whirl and let me know how it goes.
Last but not least, what you guys are “really” waiting for – the winner of the Onzie Knot-back Tank Giveaway is Liana! I hope you had an amazing time at your craft show and sold lots of your homemade skin products – I love a fellow business woman! I’ll be in touch to send your Onzie tank – in the meanwhile please email me your mailing address to brit@gritbybrit.com.
Thanks so much to all of your for sharing your weekend plans. Hearing what you guys were up to motivated me to have a super active weekend as well. Enjoy the rest of your day. Show your GRIT! Luv, Brit

Hello friends! I hope you enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day weekend. My 6′ 6″ “little” brother came home to Dallas after completing his Sophomore year of college! We enjoyed a nice family brunch and church service with our Mom – it was really nice.
Due to the high volume of requests for “tips to tone my arms,” I’ve put together a new workout which combines my 5 go-to arm exercises. It’s an exercise combination that’s both dynamic (big movements) and isometric (tiny movements like Pilates). This means you simultaneously build muscle endurance and strength which helps expedite muscle tone! You need 2 light dumbbells to complete the workout. I recommend anything from 3-7 pounds. I’m using 5 pounds in the photos below. You must complete 50 reps of each exercise. So 50 reps X 5 exercises = 250 reps of arm sculpting sexiness – yeah buddy! Rest for 1-2 minutes between each exercise. For best results, complete the workout 3 times per week for 3 weeks.
Also, I wanna give a shout out to #PUMAfitness for hooking me up with the fabulous workout gear I’m rockin’. The coral Gym Graphic All Eyes On Me Tank is bright, sleek and supportive. I especially appreciate the built-in sports bra, and I love the criss-cross design in the back that shows off sculpted shoulders. The Graphic ¾ Tights have the matching Ombre coral color down the side and come in a ton of different colors and prints. They’re made of “Drycell” highly functional materials that draw sweat away from your skin and helps keep you dry and comfortable during exercise. Personally, they fit nice and snug around my waist and give my booty pleasant little lift To complete your outfit, I also recommend grabbing the Formlite XT Ultra Sneakers. They’re lightweight with an aerodynamic design. If you enjoy group fitness classes like me, this a great sneaker because of the snug fit, flexibility and mesh top which allows airflow. Most importantly, they look great!
Alright guys, that’s all from me for now. I hope you enjoy your arm workout. Also be sure to get you some #PUMA swag! Post a comment if you have questions! xoxo, Brit
#1: Dumbbell Alternating Punches
#2: Diagonal Shoulder Press
#3: Bicep Curl Extensions w/ Shoulder Isolation
#4: Front Dumbbell Taps w/Shoulder Isolation
#5: Incline Tricep Push Ups
Last but not least, go for a sweaty 20-30 minute run in your #PUMA sneakers to blast some calories and burn fat. Remember, fat reduction will speed up your journey to sexy sculpted arms!
Keeping on the trend of upper body workouts for women, here’s a new chest workout I designed with the ladies in mind (although men will enjoy it as well). For best results, complete the entire circuit using 8-20 pound dumbbells, depending on your strength. You’ll notice that this workout has bench press “negatives” in it. Just perform a basic, lying dumbbell bench press but push the weights up quickly and then bring them down to starting position very slowly, controlling the resistance on the way down (count to 3 slowly to make sure you are moving at the right pace.) As always, add a little cardio and stretching to the end of the workout.
Enjoy and let me know how it goes. Lots of luv, Brit
Happy Saturday Ladies and Gents! While I love you both equally, I designed this workout especially for the ladies. I think many of you can empathize with the how hard it is to find a challenging shoulder workout that isn’t catered towards bulking up (i.e. 4 set of 5 military press at 50 pounds). Come on, I don’t want to look like I can pick up my date, I just want to be able to rock a nice sleeveless blouse during my date. However, let me caveat my last statement by clarifying that even if we don’t want to bulk up, we must still lift a weight that challenges us. If it doesn’t challenge us, it doesn’t change us! Don’t be afraid to pick up a pair of 10-20 pound dumbbells when doing my “Sexy Shoulders” workout.
While I created this shoulder workout just for the ladies, it’s a great workout for men as well. Unlike my other arm workouts, this routine solely focuses on the shoulder muscles instead of the entire arm. It’s a great way to isolate the shoulders and really build some definition. For best results, do this workout 2 times per week along with 30 minutes of cardio for 4 weeks. Enjoy and let me know how it goes.
What’s up GRIT GANG?! Hope your week is off to an AWESOME start – mine certainly is. This morning before work I did this bicep workout along with some cardio. I figured I’d share the workout with you guys since I got some requests after posting my Triceps Workout last week.
For best results, do this workout 1-2 times per week and combine it with a tricep workout – it’s important equally work opposite muscle groups. Use 2 medium dumbbells (about 5-10 pounds depending on your strength). Just like the tricep workout, this routine has a LOT of reps, so you don’t have worry about bulking up. Get ready to show off your sexy sculpted arms! #heygurlhey
Hey hey GRIT Gang! I don’t have much to say about this workout except, “JUST DO IT!” Your sleeveless tops and dresses will thank you All you need are 2 light/medium dumbbells (about 5-8 pounds). This workout totally works your triceps through a combination of body weight isometric training and dynamic dumbbell moves. No need to worry about bulking up because I uniquely designed the workout with high reps and low weight! However, you WILL be sore after, so be sure to stretch and work your opposite muscles (biceps) as well. Enjoy and lots of luv! -Brit
I hope you guys had a great Cinco de Mayo holiday weekend. I spent my weekend in California celebrating a friend’s wedding – it was amazing! The sun was shining and I finally got to wear some of my favorite sundresses. On that note, nothing looks better in a sleeveless sundress than nice toned arms. So, check out this arm workout that I designed to get you on a “Michelle Obama level.” You’ll need 2 medium dumbbells to complete the exercises. This is a nice workout to tag on to the end of a cardio sweat session. You can workout with me in real-time by watching the video (click play above) or do the workout on your own(follow the instructions below). Either way, be sure to try it out and let me know how it goes!
Here’s an upper body toning workout I designed in aspiration of getting first class guns just like our fierce first lady. The workout focuses solely on the biceps, triceps, shoulders and abs. You don’t need hand weights and can do this workout right in your living room – yay!
The entire workout takes 30 minutes and burns about 200 calories. I’m going to give it a whirl tonight along with 30 minutes of cardio. Try it for yourself and let me know how it goes – enjoy!
