Yo Yo – Summer is sadly coming to an end, but I’m very much looking forward to the Labor Day Weekend. My company gives us the Friday before Labor Day off too so I’ll enjoy a nice 4 day weekend – woop woop! As usual, I want to encourage you to enjoy the holiday, relax and take some time off. BUT don’t skip out on your workout! Here’s a quick and effective leg workout that I did on Labor Day last year. You guys liked it so much, I figured I’d pull it out and “beef it up” a bit. This year I added a few more intensity intervals to elevate the heart rate. Give it a whirl and let me know how it goes!
Also, 24 Hour Fitness in Dallas is having a special event for Labor Day – FREE ADMISSION to all clubs all weekend as long as you attend with a club member! If you live in Dallas, come take my Turbo Kick class at 3pm on Sunday, August 31st in Mesquite. Click on the image below for details.
And now for the fun stuff – I’m hosting a giveaway for a pair of Lucy Powermax X-Training Pants (Black, Small, Wide-Leg). These things retail at $89 but I’m giving them away to one lucky reader. Just post a comment telling me your favorite leg exercise and why. Be sure to include your email address so I can contact you! I’ll pick a winner next Tuesday, September 2.

Ooh, thanks for the new leg workout! That looks like fun.
My favourite leg exercise is actually a really simple one. When I was doing physical therapy to recover from Lyme disease, my physical therapist had me lie on my back, and lift each leg one at a time and then circle them clockwise and counterclockwise; we eventually worked up to 3 reps of 30 circles and it felt good to actually be using my legs again after weeks of not being able to walk even a block without joint pain. And it felt good to have my *muscles* be the things aching and not my joints.

I liked this leg workout! I’m already feeling it, so it’s definitely going to be saved for those rainy days when I don’t feel like running.
My favorite leg exercise is vinyasa sun salute B. You start out in chair pose, a modified squat that works your upper and lower body, and then flow through lunges. I like to hold the pose for 10 breaths after the initial feeling of fatigue.

Hi Brit!
My favourite leg exercise would have to be walking lunges. I find it is a combination strength and cardio and really gets my heart rate up as well as toning the tushie.
I will have to try your leg workout.

got it! thanks for sharing you fav leg exercise!
My favorite leg workout is HIKING a really steep mountain! It doesn’t feel like a workout but I always really feel it the next day.
Agreed! Hiking is an amazing way to explore the world and get a workout !
hiking is the best – especially in Denver (you’re home) – miss you friend!
Hey Brit!
I love to run, but my favorite leg workouts are explosive ones like jump squats, burpees, jumping lunges, etc. I take a lot of pride in my legs (thunder thighs) and treat them very well with a mixture of various workouts (explosive circuits, running, and lifting – my single one rep max PR was 215lbs at one point!)

I agree – explosive moves are fun and effective – thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for posting this workout. I will def use this week. My fave leg exercises are jump squats, box jumps and split squats because you feel them right away and they are super effective. With the right amount of reps and sets, I am definitely feeling them the day after π

You’re welcome! glad you like and I love your leg exercises!
Great workout! I would love to come to one of your classes sometime! I have been admiring your roof top Piyo classes. I am also a Piyo instructor, and I absolutely love it! My favorite leg exercise would be the Bulgarian split squat! It gets me every single time LOL. My quads and my glutes (bonus) are on fire, and I feel it the next couple of days. Have a great day π
Glad you like the workout! Bulgarian Split squat – dang, sounds fierece! #getitgurl – hope you can make to PiYo class soon if you’re in Dallas π
I would have to say Jump Squats are my fav and least fav haha.
oh yes – always a good burn – thanks for sharing!
I love lunges during body pump- I like how it works your whole lower body! And some of the latest releases have had the hardest lunge tracks! [email protected]
OMG the lunge track in Body Pump gets me EVERY TIME! And it’s at the end (right before shoulders) – great leg workout! thanks for sharing!
I love the leg workout in the original Pure Barre DVD! It’s targeted and thorough. And fun!

oh! I’ve never tried that, but will add it to my “to do” list. Sounds like a great leg workout – thanks for sharing!
I love doing barre exercises for legs. I use a tall stool (with a horizontal back) as my “barre” if I can’t get to class and it works great!
I tried out Pure Barre a while back, but haven’t taken many barre classes since. I’ll have to try one out for a leg workout! Thanks for sharing! xo, Brit
I really enjoy doing lunges. They kill, but so worth it!!
